Sitting around a table of new friends last night, drinking good wine and making great food, I realized that the people in my life and all the interactions I have are like salt. When I was younger, I wanted to be a chef. I learned everything I could about cooking and food and the science of food, including the fact that salt actually draws out and amplifies flavors that already exist.
As human beings existing, thoughts and emotions are things we create and foster within our own hearts and minds, but they are formed by our interactions with the people, the words, the tastes, and the sounds with which we surround ourselves. All of these things bring out what already exists; dormant feelings that lie within and emotions we are capable of can only be expressed through the existence of or in opposition to agents we all encounter.
